'Learning and Teaching Through Transformative Spaces'
'Learning and Teaching Through Transformative Spaces'
This year’s fourth annual Asian Conference on Education was held in affiliation with Waseda University (Japan), Birkbeck College, University of London (UK), the University of Lincoln (UK), the National Institute of Education (Singapore), the National University of Tainan (Taiwan), the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKSAR), and Auburn University (USA).
ACE attracted 450 registrants and invited speakers from more than 40 countries, and was IAFOR’s biggest conference to date. It was a great celebration of interdisciplinary study around the conference theme, "Learning and Teaching Through Transformative Spaces" and IAFOR is honoured to have hosted such a high caliber of interdisciplinary dialogue and inspiring thought exchange. We would like to thank our Keynote speaker, Professor Katsuhiko Shirai (Former President of Waseda University and Chairman of the Open University of Japan), and featured speakers Professor Joshua Mok (Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the Hong Kong Institute of Education), Professor Michiko Nakano (Director of the Distance Learning Center at Waseda University, Japan), Dr Monty Satiadarma (Former Rector of Tarumanugara University, Indonesia), Professor Helen Wildy (Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Western Australia), and our featured workshop speaker Professor Marcel Lebrun of Plymouth State University, USA.
IAFOR would also like to thank our conference chairs Professor Sue Jackson (London),
Professor Michiko Nakano (Waseda), and programme advisers Professor Mary Stuart (Lincoln), Professor Judith Chapman A.M. (Cambridge), Professor David Aspin (Monash), and Professor Tien-Hui Chiang (Tainan) for their continued and committed academic support and guidance, as well as all the participants from around the globe. We look forward to building on this success next year as we look forward to our extending the dialogue to include events in Europe next year. We hope to see you again next year for further challenging and inspiring discussion, whether in Japan or the UK!
